[ at first, he hadn't been sure what to make of the invitation.
the address was printed quite nicely on cardstock, lettered with a steady, even hand. he recognized the name well enough as belonging to one of the shier students in his astronomy class, one he had spoken to only a handful of times (once, because she was in the way, and the second because she was in the way, and the third because she wasn't in the way, but she was going to be if she didn't move). it certainly wasn't enough to merit any kind of friendly, camaraderie-like treatment between them and he had always assumed she were terrified of him and wanted to avoid any and all interaction with him as much as possible.
but apparently not, judging from the invitation. he couldn't even write it off as a mistake because the envelope had very clearly said his name in neat, printed letters. the address was too far to walk but that was fine, since there had been a +1 stipulation on the bottom and he knew for a fact that his roommate could drive.
well, not really knew so much as assumed. there was a car in the driveway that could belong to any one of them and he didn't want to take anyone else but Silver, so obviously he was going to assume only the best to make this happen.
there were another series of words printed at the bottom in loopy handwriting that read "costumes optional!" that just oozed a personal touch he felt charmed by. costumes... ah, that's right. it was near the end of October, so clearly this was a Halloween party. he had a few costumes in his closet he'd bought for such an occasion but never had a chance to wear, so he spends the entirety of the day meticulously trying on outfits before deciding on the perfect fit, and then with roughly thirty minutes to the party (the address of which was about twenty-five minutes away by car) he's knocking on Silver's closed door with a sharp rap of his knuckles.
Silver will open it to the sight of Malleus dressed in a purple dragon costume, complete with wings and a tail to boot. affixed on top of his head, carefully balanced between the horns, is a festive party hat. ]
